So, every winter I get severely chapped lips. It is painful and always a problem. It is especially bad, because it makes it awkward to kiss my boyfriend. Its the same for my boyfriend. The only difference is my boyfriend doesn't complain as much as I do. My suggestion to prevent those painful scaly lips is to ALWAYS care some chap-stick with you. When you feel like your lips are becoming the tiniest bit chapped, just slather it on. If you rub it in with your finger, it helps your skin absorb it better. Another thing, often my cheeks will get chapped if I stay outside in the cold too long. When that happens, I just take that chap-stick, rub a little on my cheeks and rub, rub, rub it in with my fingers. Chap-stick is also great for cracking cuticles and emergency split ends. Just remember, rub, rub, rub. Have fun this winter and keep your lips safe.
Fight the scaly!!!

Cutting hair
I ran into a girl today whose's bangs were BUTCHERED. It was depressing. Apparently, she had unsuccessfully tried to cut her own bangs. A tip to all, of you who feel you NEED to trim your hair: snip it, never cut. You are not a professional, so you can't just willy nilly cut chunks of hair. You have not been trained to sculpt hair. Instead, look at yourself squarely in the mirror, run a comb through your hair stopping at the place where you would like to end your bangs, and cut your bangs UP until they are the desired length. That means hold the scissors parallel to your face, literally cutting up. IF your bangs are a little more feathered, then once the length is established, take a vertical lock, lift it up between your fingers, and trim the extra hair that sticks out. Again, trim up. This should prevent anymore mishaps with the scissors, but if you can, it is always best to go to your usual hairdresser. Good luck everyone!

Hair plopping
Every curly hair girl like me knows how difficult it is to get those perfect ringlets in the winter. I myself have had to suddenly transfer from a morning shower to an evening shower. If your like me, that means that you now have to sleep with wet hair AND you wake up with some crazy puffy resemblance of a poodle. I, being as google-addicted as I am, went on line to find how to prevent that nightmare from occurring. I discovered plopping. Funny name, I know, but the best thing ever. Basically, you "plop" your hair into a old t-shirt and wrap the t around your head. This is how it goes: place the t-shirt long ways, place your head in the middle, take the sleeve and bottom corner closer to your face and tie behind your head. Take the rest, twist away from you behind your ears, and tie tightly behind your head. The T will be gently pull the excess water out of your hair, but will leave enough moisture that you don't have frizz. The T also prevents rubbing, so you won't have any pulled apart, teased, messy locks. You will look silly, so don't do this with you man around. If your married, than its not big deal because your husband has seen, if not everything, just about anything. Good luck!
Go forth and be frizz free!

Greasy hair
While sitting in my lecture class, it has been brought to my attention how greasy all the heads have gotten. My beautiful darlings, I know that you may hope no one has noticed that you did not wash your hair today or maybe this week but greasy hair is a no no. I do not judge because I have curly hair that when I straighten my hair, I don't want to wash it for a few days but I have a secret weapon, DRY SHAMPOO!!! Now being in college, my funds have become considerably limited, so my alternative is baby powder. To my people who value beauty and cleanliness as much as I do, just put some baby powder in your hands, rub your hands together, and rub rub rub your head. If you put a little too much, just brush your hair with a round brush and the extra will brush out. Also, if your hair has just gone too far, ponytails are a great alternative. Just put it up and call it good. Look at how great your hair looks! You could be the next big model!

Nail Polish
All the magazines are saying the fall colors for nail polish are metallic earthy colors. I feel yeah, those are nice, but don't constrict yourself to those boring blah blah colors. I say fall colors should require a little more color. Try a nice red or bright coral. Frosted pinks are always classy and a favorite of mine. For toe nail color, forget rules, I'm wearing a bright blue right now!!! Sure, neutral colors have their charm, but when everything else is losing their color, keep yours!
